About

I think it was 2007, coming up to Christmas. I was living in London and pretty broke. I didn't have money to buy good presents or come to that, bad presents, so I called on my under-utilised Fine Art Degree (I had been working as an Office Manager/P.A. at that point, not strictly 'creative'). I dug out those little red-handled lino cutting tools, and started thinking about getting creative again. In fits and starts. And, moving back to Dublin in 2010, and consequently losing my job in the first crash (waiting for crash 2.0 post corona), the fits and starts became a full-time endeavour.

Welcome to the Studio!

My studio is in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Surrounded by pictures and stuff torn out of magazines, papers, cards and bits that I love. Makes sitting down to work pretty colourful. And fun. As a fine art graduate, I'm fond of things that just look right. Despite coming out of art college a broken person (ask anyone who went to art college, they'll say the same), the training that I got meant I left college with a discerning eye for composition, colour and line. My designs are all about line. And Colour. And simplicity. One colour prints and precise lines.

Drawing I'm a scribbler, so I tend to scribble, then refine. At the moment I'm having a bit of a reboot, and having lots of fun with it!

Dún Laoghaire and Dublin Dublin is an inspirational little city and Dún Laoghaire is on the coast. Sometimes, when the brain is full, it's nice to get out of the studio to refresh the head - the best of everything on your doorstep.

The Scribbles A closer look at the scribbles - these might end up somewhere, they might not! The stronger the pops of colour, the better in my world.

Printing This is the calming bit - when I get to do a print run or a set of block-prints. Preparation is key!

The Printing Press A lovely bit of kit, this brings me joy to use. I bought it when I lived in London, and have hauled all 35 clunking kilos of it for a few house moves and a few studio moves.

Me! Hiding behind a sea print (as well as having a studio by the river, I also live by the sea, so sea life is a regular feature).

Oh, and the name, Fawn? it comes from the phonetic spelling of my name, Fán.
